For a brief, shining moment, the Epic Games Store had its very own SteamDB website called, appropriately enough, EpicDB. It’s gone now, but not before leaking what appears to be a database containing numerous unreleased games including Final Fantasy 9 and The Last of Us 2.

First spotted by the Famiboards forum (via TheGamer), the fun began when people realized EpicDB’s publisher search results were including unreleased titles along with games that are already live. Many of them were listed under codenames, but online sleuths were able to puzzle them out based on related listings, like the names of associated DLC.

You can keep your bowler hat and bustle gowns in the closet a little bit longer: co-op Victorian fantasy survival game Nightingale is facing another delay. Originally planned for an early access release in 2022, Nightingale missed the mark and re-targeted for the first half of this year. Now it’s been nudged once again into the future.

In a new Nightingale developer update video, Inflexion Games CEO (and former BioWare general manager) Aaryn Flynn announced “we’ve come to the decision to move our early access launch date to the fall of this year, which is spring if you’re in the southern hemisphere.”

If you’re a little foggy on the details of Nightingale, it’s set in a Victorian alt-history where you’ve become trapped in a mystical realm and must build an estate, battle monsters, craft gear and dapper outfits, and open gateways to dangerous realms to find rare resources. The survival game can be played alone or in co-op PvE.

Helldivers 2 is now not only PlayStation’s most successful PC release, it has doubled the record of previous big hit God of War. Helldivers 2 has reached a peak concurrent player count of 155,926 this weekend, while God of War previously held the record at 73,529 peak concurrent players.

PC Gamer reported on Friday that Helldivers 2 had topped PlayStation’s other launches, but with server troubles in the offing and negative reviews rolling in continued growth wasn’t a sure thing. It’s clear that cooperative third-person shooter is now very much a success.

If you listened to your Super Earth superiors—which you should—you would know that flying bugs in Helldivers 2 are a myth created by insect-loving fascists, and blue lasers are a figment of your imagination. Unless you’ve been looking at video evidence, which is high treason, so you shouldn’t be doing that.

If for some reason you were (hypothetically) engaging in such thought crimes, you’d know that there’s been video and photo evidence of both cryptids with varying degrees of legitimacy—hinting at both a new Terminid enemy type, and the return of Helldivers 1’s hyper-advanced Illuminate faction. 

Personally speaking, I’ve found the flying bug stuff more convincing than the blue laser beams. Laser weapons go blue when they ricochet off armour, and it’s pretty easy to edit a screenshot to shift the hue. The flying bugs, though? There’s an increasingly concerning phenomenon happening one the web right now, one that’s seeing scammers buying up top ad spots on Google in order to spread malicious code. Often impersonating well known apps such as WhatsApp, they can blend seamlessly with harmless ads. Unless you know the exact URL of the app you’re trying to download, you could find yourself downloading something harmful.

We’ve been watching phishing tactics evolve over the years, and while buying ads to impersonate free and open-source apps isn’t a new method for would-be scammers, it seems to have increased along with the trend in NFT and cryptocurrency investments going on all over the internet.

While it’s true that the price of GPUs on the whole is still rather high, it’s the RTX 4090 that has really seen its pricing shoot straight up into the stratosphere in recent months. A quick hunt through the listings reveals that a lot of examples are currently priced well north of the $2,000 mark, with some coming close to $3,000. That’s a huge chunk of change for a single component, but above we’ve found two entire gaming PCs for not that much more money.

First up, let’s take a look at the HP Omen 45L GT22-1190. Not a particularly memorable name we’ll grant you, but this is an honest-to-goodness powerhouse of a system from a reputable manufacturer, and given it’s currently available for just under $3,300 the pricing here is very much on point. It’s not like HP skimped on the rest of the spec sheet to get it down to this sort of money either, as alongside that RTX 4090 comes a 4.7 GHz AMD Ryzen 9 7900X, 64GB of 5200 MHz DDR5 RAM and a 2TB WD Black PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD.
